Bascis
Basics consists of a live flute and second opposing flute voice on tape. Natural flute
sounds are confronted with both quasi-natural sounds and flute sounds electronically modulated
by granular synthesis; they generate a play between various
grades of similarness and obscurity as the piece progresses. Formally, a gradual development
of simple, basic musical elements (hence the title of the composition) evolves, from long
tones to short impulses, from low to high, and from normal to pulsating tones. |
